Tuesday, June 18, is the primary runoff election in Georgia.

ATLANTA — Georgia voters headed to the polls on Tuesday to cast their ballots in Georgia's primary runoff election.

The June runoff follows the May primary election, where no candidate secured a majority vote in several key races.

11:43 p.m. |Zach Merchant with 11Alive's political team breaks down some county-by-county results for several key races.

11:30 p.m. |11Alive's Doug Richards gives insight into Georgia's Republican 3rd Congressional District runoff race. Former Donald Trump White House advisor Brian Jack is the projected nominee -- beating out Mike Dugan.

11:18 p.m. |11Alive's Angelina Salcedo spoke with incumbent Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen after he won the runoff election. He said his goal for today was for his voters to come out to the polls despite low turnout.

His immediate next steps involve the jail, he said.

"The first thing I want to do is fix the locks in the jail. Repair the jail to how it needs to be. The second thing is to tackle overcrowding, and the third thing is going to be staffing," Allen stated.

11:00 p.m. |11Alive's Cody Alcorn speaks with Lorraine Cochran-Johnson after she won the DeKalb County CEO primary runoff. Cochran-Johnson said she is the first African-American woman to serve as the county's CEO.

"It's bigger than me. This is about the people. And I'm happy that they entrusted me, and I look forward to being the best CEO in the history of DeKalb County," she said.

10:27 p.m. |DeKalb County CEO candidate Larry Johnson conceded to Lorraine Cochran-Johnson.

"We're going to keep moving and doing our thing because we love DeKalb County," Johnson said.

10:15 p.m. |Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen said he's feeling good after Georgia's primary runoff win.

"I'm not surprised by the results. The county was very clear about what they wanted. And I'm here," he said.

10:02 p.m. |11Alive can call Lorraine Cochran-Johnson as the projected winner of the DeKalb County CEO runoff race against Larry Johnson.

9:52 p.m. | Clayton County Sheriff Levon Allen gives a victory speech after winning the runoff race.

"It does not stop here. It can't stop. It won't stop. We are going onward and upwards in Clayton County," Allen said. "If I can do what I've done with my team in 15 months, you ain't seen nothing yet."

9:41 p.m. |Clayton County sheriff candidate Jeffrey Turner spoke to 11Alive's Jonathan Martin before the race was called.

9:16 p.m. | 11Alive is able to say that Levon Allen is the winner for the Clayton County Sheriff runoff. The incumbent sheriff was against Jeffrey Turner.

9:06 p.m. | Former Donald Trump aide Brian Jack speaks after becoming the projected Republican nominee for the U.S. House in Georgia's 3rd Congressional District.

"The power of the Trump endorsem*nt is alive and well," Jack stated.

8:50 p.m. |11Alive's Molly Oak describes how Mike Dugan congratulated Brian Jack, who was the projected winner of Georgia's 3rd Congressional District Republican race.

8:26 p.m. | Gabriel Sterling with the Secretary of State's Office took to social media after polls closed, stating that it looks like there will be a total of more than 310,000 votes cast statewide. In a separate post, he said it was a smooth day of voting across the state. All polling locations opened on time, and no locations were open late.

8:19 p.m. |11Alive's Karys Belger gives an update about the DeKalb County CEO race while at candidate Larry Johnson's watch party.

7:56 p.m. |11Alive's Molly Oak speaks with Mike Dugan after Brian Jack is declared the projected Republican nomination for the U.S. House in Georgia's 3rd Congressional District.

"I'm obviously disappointed but there's a lot worse things that have happened to me over my life than this," Dugan said. "We'll wake up tomorrow, we'll move on, and we'll get on with our lives."

7:49 p.m. | Brian Jack is the projected Republican nomination for the U.S. House in Georgia's 3rd Congressional District, according to the Associated Press.

7:24 p.m. |Georgia's Congressional Districts 2 and 14 have been called by the Associated Press. Shawn Harris is the projected Democratic nominee for the 14th Congressional District, and Wayne Johnson is the projected Republican nominee for the 2nd Congressional District.

6:39 p.m. |Fulton County election officials gave an update about the election. They said it ran smoothly and that turnout was low.

5:51 p.m. |11Alive's Angelina Salcedo breaks down the Clayton County Sheriff runoff race.

5:48 p.m. | 11Alive's Brittany Kleinpeter described how voters expressed the importance of voting despite low turnout. In general, runoff election turnout is historically low compared to other elections.

1:42 p.m.| Gabriel Sterling with the Georgia Secretary of State's Office provides a midday update, reiterating the light voter turnout in the state.

12:00 p.m. | Around noon today, voter turnout in Clayton County appeared low overall, with voters trickling into polling locations off Morrow Road. Voters heading into Morrow City Hall shared that the race bringing them to the polls was the highly contentious sheriff’s race.

Incumbent Sheriff Levon Allen and Clayton County Commissioner Jeff Turner are competing to be the democratic candidate for sheriff in Clayton County in November.

“I think the sheriff's [race] is a very lightning bolt thing here in Clayton County, so I just wanted to be a part of the process,” said voter Jenice Whisenhont.

11:15 a.m.| 11Alive's Rarione Maniece provides an update from the Buckhead Library polling precinct. As of 11 a.m., turnout has been fairly low across Atlanta, which isn't unusual for runoff elections.
