Since Greek Feta has always been one of my favorite type of cheese I wanted to share the recipe for my vegan version here on the blog too. Actually, it’s very easy to make dairy-free cheese at home and I’ve already shared some simple recipes with you. Some of my favorites are this creamy vegan cheese sauce, easy cashew sauce, cashew ricotta, almond tofu ricotta, vegan mozzarella, and vegan Parmesan cheese which is made of cashews and almonds.

Anyway, today it’s all about the nut-free vegan feta cheese that is just made of marinated tofu. The preparation is really super easy because you only need to cut the tofu, stir together the marinade and then marinate the tofu. That’s it! Just take note that the longer the tofu sits, the better it tastes.

How to make Vegan Feta Cheese

The simple marinade requires just a few ingredients. It’s high-quality olive oil, some dried herbs, such as oregano, thyme, basil, red paprika, sea salt, and pepper. However, you can also use other seasonings to taste or adding some vinegar or lemon juice. What I also like is adding a bit of white miso paste or nutritional yeast flakes for a cheesier flavor.

All you need to do is to drain the tofu very well. Then tap dry using a kitchen towel or kitchen paper. Now cut into cubes and place in a jar that you can seal tightly. In a small bowl, stir together all the ingredients for the marinade – olive oil, fresh garlic, herbs, and spices. Pour it over the vegan feta cheese cubes, seal the jar and give it a good shake. Make sure all of the tofu feta is well covered with the marinade before placing in the fridge. Allow to soak for at least overnight but I found out that the flavors unfold better the longer it sits. It’s so simple and tastes amazing!

How long can you store vegan feta?

The tofu feta will keep for about 1 week in the refrigerator. It’s best to put it on the top shelf or door shelves of the refrigerator ( this is where it’s warmest) so that the olive oil doesn’t solidify.

I love to use thisvegan tofu feta cheese insalads, such as my Mediterranean Chickpea Salad recipe or as filling in Paratha (Indian flatbread), Turkish borek, Ravioli and more! There are so many dishes in which you can add this flavorful tofu feta. Also, on top of a Pizza or Pasta, or in a vegan Quiche it makes a delicious addition. Anyway, I think, I’ll share some new vegan greek recipes soon too. By the way, have you ever been to Greece? I would absolutely love to see that beautiful country one day. Especially, traveling to Santorini must be a nice experience.
